Simulcast + Step by Step

We had a totally awesome simulcast on Monday where we shared our hearts for you women, our hearts for the conference and a lot of awesome details. We took questions from social media under the hashtag #influenceconf and answered them as best we could. If you missed out, never fear! You can scroll through the hashtag on twitter and you can watch the simulcast below! If you want to skip ahead we begin talking about conference stuff at the 10:50 mark.

Most of the questions were how tos for the conference, and we want to help you out. Think of this as your own personal concierge. We've said it before and we'll say it again: the best place to connect is the conference section of the forums. But some people like lists and step by step instructions... and so, we've got you covered!
  • GET THE FUNDS- Jessi wrote an awesome post on why we can afford anything God calls us to. And Hayley has wrote an awesome post last year on how to get a blog conference sponsorship
  • BUY YOUR TICKET- You can purchase your ticket HERE
  • SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER- We are currently accepting volunteers to help with set up/ break down/ and other little things throughout the conference. If you're interested feel free to fill out our volunteer form
  • ADD A BUTTON- We've made buttons to help y'all connect with one another and let your friends know where you'll be in September. You can grab a button for your blog on the main conference page
  • CONNECT BEFOREHAND- You can find the speakers and workshops + community leaders here. Reach out and tell them you are coming to the #influenceconf ! They would love to connect with you!!
  • FIND ROOMMATES- The best place to find a roommate is under the roommate thread on the forums. You can also send out a tweet under #influenceconf or even leave a comment below on this post. Seriously ladies, we suggest doing rooms of 4 gals if you can. It is so much more fun and, of course, less expensive that way.
  • BOOK YOUR ROOM- We have a special conference rate at the Westin. You can book directly through our Hotel+Travel conference page.
  • GET TO THE HOTEL- We've set up a place for you to hitch-a-ride with other women through the forums. Or if you are interested in picking people up from the airport you can post it there as well. We've also set up a special price for a shared shuttle ride. You can book it directly through our Hotel+Travel conference page.
  • CONNECT IN INDY- Whether you want to plan a dinner, a coffee date, or a dance party... The best place to do that is through our It's A Date forum page. Or just quickly tweet out "Starbucks in the lobby in 5 #influenceconf" This conference is going to be what you make it!!
We are so very excited about this year's conference. Our prayer is it will be a blessing to you and your online life and that you will leave feeling refreshed. So make sure to get your ticket today!

we can afford anything.

The other night my husband and I sat down to go over our budget and I made a few jokes about how stress-inducing it was. Maybe that sounds familiar to you, but the truth is - talking about money really ISN'T so stressful for us these days. It's not because we're rolling in dough and it's not because the numbers always add up just so, it's because we've learned one seriously valuable lesson in the last few years.

We can afford anything.

Before you get the wrong idea or try to hit us up for cash, I should back up just a little. Our family has absolutely known poverty. I mean, real financial poverty. We've had seasons of very, very little and the economic downturn hit us hard a few years ago. Right now we're in a season of seriously needing to trust the Lord with our finances - as part of our income comes from fundraising because my husband is a church planter and the other part comes from our online business. So how we can afford anything? Well, what I really mean is...

We can afford anything the Lord wants us to.
And you can too.

I'm not getting all prosperity gospel on you and telling you that you can envision a million bucks and have it the next day. I AM telling you that if you love and serve Jesus, your Heavenly Father owns everything in this big, huge world and He can choose to resource you with WHATEVER He chooses for you to have, regardless of your bank account or credit score. What we can afford isn't a matter of how much money we have, it's really a matter of what the Lord wants us to have and how we're willing to make it work to have it.

For us, we're not willing to go into debt to have things we want, but we absolutely ARE willing to work a little extra or cut back in other areas for something that feels right for our family. So when we approach our budget, you'll rarely hear us telling one another "Oh, we can't afford that" and we try not to speak that over our children either. We don't want them to trust our bank account for provision, but our heavenly Father. Because if we're all seeking first His Kingdom anyhow, the chances are - our desires are lined up with what He wants us to have.

I pray that as women of Influence - we'd all have this mentality. Not a false gospel that says "if you work hard, good things will happen and you'll have all the things" but rather a gospel-centered view of money that says, "I seek God's will for my life and know that nothing is off limits to my Father. He wants good for me and He will absolutely provide and make a way for me".

Some verses to dwell on here:
Psalm 50:10-12
Matthew 6:26
Matthew 6:33

Are you wanting to attend The Influence Conference, but you're worried about money?

Here are a few tips:

1. Pray! If the Lord wants you there, it could cost a billion dollars and you could still afford it.
2.  Think about where you can redistribute money from in your budget to make this investment for yourself/ your business/ your blog/ your family. Maybe cutting out Starbucks trips or fast food with the kids for a few months is the very investment you need to make.
3. Think through ways to earn money to go towards your ticket/expenses and brainstorm with other gals in the network. Hop on the forums if you're a network member or us the #InfluenceConf hashtag on twitter/facebook/instagram to brainstorm your way there.

One more thought:
We wouldn't be surprised if the Lord isn't prompting some of the women in our community to hold their hands open and be generous and sponsor some other gals for their conference tickets. Maybe some of pray and ask the Lord what we can afford, he answers with - we can afford to be generous.  If this is you - email us at conference@theinfluencenetwork.com.

What you can do NOW to get ready for the Influence Conference!

For the Influence team, conference season has officially begun.  After spending the beginning of the year dedicated mainly to building and caring for the Network, we've turned our gaze towards September and the second Influence Conference!  There are a huge number of exciting things in store for you, and we'll be unveiling more throughout the summer.

Are you joining us?
Let's talk about five things you can do NOW to prepare for an amazing conference weekend.

1. BUY YOUR TICKET.
If you haven't bought your seat yet, now is the time!

2. EXPLORE THE BRAND NEW CONFERENCE WEBSITE
Get all your questions answered, read about the speakers and community leaders,  check out the gorgeous hotel, and sign up to participate as a volunteer or apply to be a vendor in the Sashes Market

3. ORDER BUSINESS CARDS.
The Influence Conference will be a great place to connect with companies, bloggers, and friends.  Keep your brand fresh in people's minds with an awesome business card to hand out.  This is a perfect month to spend some time crafting a card that is "you" and placing an order.  Need help?  Our conference manager, Ashley, has created a download with tips just for Influence members.

4. CONNECT WITH OTHER ATTENDEES BEFORE THE CONFERENCE.
Don't wait until you walk through the hotel doors to meet other influential women.  The Network was created to enable relationships to be sustained throughout the year.  You've got 3 months, so pick a few women (maybe your roommates or mastermind group!) and commit to know them better.  Try a Google+ Chat or comment on their blogs or social media to start conversations.  It will make September that much sweeter.

5. WATCH THE LIVE VIDEO SIMULCAST AND USE #INFLUENCECONF.
This Monday, June 17th at 9 pm EST, Ashley will be hosting a live video simulcast with Influence co-founders, Jessi Connolly and Hayley Morgan, and two special guests.  They will chat about conference plans and answer your live questions, using the hashtag #influenceconf on social media.

(If you can't make it Monday evening, the entire simulcast will be posted here on the blog next Friday!)

UPDATE: Here is the link to the live simulcast...

The Welcome Party

Ladies, conference season is in full swing (have you gotten your ticket yet?) We are SO excited to tell you about what will be your first experience at the 2013 Influence Conference- the welcome party. We want to set the tone for a really awesome weekend. We want to do something to give back. We want to give you a place to come together, hug old friends and meet new people. We want to make sure both our introverts AND our extroverts feel super comfortable and loved on at the conference.

So we decided to start things off with a little coffee, a little dessert, and coming together as a group to give back. This year we are teaming up with SoleHope and kicking off the conference with a shoe cutting party. If you haven't heard of Sole Hope , they are an incredible organization who's mission is to offer HOPE to widows, orphans, and others within impoverished and forgotten communities around the world by teaching the simple trade of shoemaking which provides jobs and shoes to those in need. They are helping to solve the very real and very sad Jigger problem in Africa.

Watch the video below (be careful around little eyes!) to see a very graphic view into the issue many children and adults are facing in Africa.

The thought of these sweet little children with parasites eating away at their feet simply from lack of shoes and water is too terrible. As women of Influence we always say we want our online lives to mean something, but we want our offline lives to mean something as well. And we can't think of any better way to reach out than teaming up with Sole Hope and cutting shoes to send to these children. We are collecting old jeans and fabric for the party so feel free to bring some old pairs if you have them!

During the shoe cutting party the lovely and talented Reeve Cobbs (who will be leading our worship night) will be putting on a concert of her original music. Not only that, but Christopher Kincaid, the crazy talented husband of our very own Forum Manager, Rachael Kincaid, will be playing for us as well!

This is going to be such a low key and wonderful way to kick off the weekend. Meeting up with old friends, finally meeting that person you've been talking to online for.so.long, nibbling some yummy desserts, listening to some incredible music, and really stretching the social justice arm of Influence.

So make sure and purchase your ticket today...We can't wait to see you there!

Sashes Market 2013!

Hey gals!
We are really excited to share a little more info about The Sashes Market, our boutiqued shop featuring women from our community that we are so excited to put on at the 2013 Influence Conference!

The Sashes Market was a HUGE hit at the 2012 conference and we were only getting started! Here's a few things you should know about our market!

- It's boutiqued. No vendors having to stand at a table all weekend. It's a one stop shop for everything. Our vendors bring us their product, priced and ready to go, we merchandise it and display it beautifully, our market ladies run the shop all weekend. This makes for a much more beautiful display (think Anthroplogie over tables and tables of product laid out) and it helps our vendors to really enjoy the conference.

- It's not just a one time gig. Being a vendor at a conference that has a network attached to it means that you're a key player in a handmade community that keeps going. It's not just two days worth of selling, it's being a part of something that is much larger than yourself before and after the conference.

- Our hearts are for you. We spend time praying for our market vendors and we're very intentional in who we let sell and what we have them sell. We'll work with you to make sure you're bringing the right product and the right amount. We want you to do well!

To help our market experience this year, we've enlisted the help of three Sashes Ambassadors. These are three women who are a part of the network and who are incredible role models in the handmade community. They all three had a great experience at the Sashes Market last year and they're going to be partnering with us to help make things go amazingly! Questions you need answered? Want to build community with other shop owners prior to the conference? These are your ladies!

Interested in selling at the Sashes Market?
Here's what you need to know!

- You do need to purchase a conference ticket and a vendor pass to sell in the market. The fee to participate in the market is a $200 flat fee, we take no after percentage. Vendor fees will be due by July 1st, 2012 and will be paid via paypal.
- You do need to apply to be a vendor and you can do that by following this link and filling out the form. We are selective in who we choose because we genuinely want our vendors to do well. If we don't think your products are a match for our attendees, we want to be upfront about that.
- We will accept credit cards in the market. This way we can keep the shop boutiqued and pay our vendors easily after the conference. Vendors will be paid via check, less credit card fees, approximately one week post conference.

This year's market is going to be so amazing and we are really looking forward to having YOU be a part of it! Our vendors spots will go quickly - so head over here and fill out our form to apply as soon as possible. If you have other questions, feel free to reach out to our market ambassadors via twitter or leave a comment here!

We love partnering with creative women and we look forward to seeing your beautiful goods in September!

2013 Conference Workshops

One part of Influence we are so excited about are our Workshops. This year the workshops are all being taught by Community Leaders and we couldn't be more thrilled. The Workshops will be on Friday evening, during the 8-9pm hour and the 9-10pm hour. We envision these Workshops as being the time during the conference where you find “your people”–the kindreds, the future contacts, the people you can collaborate with. You can purchase your Influence Conference Tickets HERE!

As believers, everything we do should be for the glory of God. Right? Even our small businesses? Whether you own a freelance company, photography business, or make handmade goods during naptime to sell on ETSY - this workshop is for you. Learn how to bring God into the equation of planning, production, and profits. We will take the approach of looking at our businesses with three sets of glasses: profits, social good, and Kingdom impact.

Being a mom is one of the most difficult and wonderful jobs a woman will ever have. In the world of blogging there can be true community and true encouragement through the incredible and tough seasons of motherhood. You are not just a "mommy blogger". You have a voice and a chance to share Jesus and make a major impact for His kingdom. In this workshop we will help you find and strengthen your voice as a mom+blogger. We will discuss practical things such as how to balance life with family and maintaining a blog. How to protect your kids and husband while sharing (and sometimes oversharing) about your life. And most importantly, how your voice as a mom can make a major difference in the lives of so many.

During the adoption journey, many find support and community to be the biggest blessing- here you can find that community. This workshop is for anyone who has a heart for adoption, regardless of where they are on the journey! If you have adopted already, are in the process, or are just in the early steps of considering things, this is the workshop for you. Megan is an open book and would love to share what she's learned or experienced on fundraising, travel, international adoption with her daughter, and her story of being domestically adopted. This will be a time to ask questions, receive support, and connect with women who share a heart for adoption.

A heart to heart talk on the struggles, joys and opportunities of singleness. This workshop will be encouraging, empowering and honest- sharing the journey of walking with God as a single woman and making the most of the season! This workshop is for women in the season of waiting and singleness: drawing upon experiences and discussing heartaches involved in singleness, as well as talking about topics like: loneliness, trusting God, dating & frustrations in finding “Mr. Right”, practical opportunities we have as singles to serve God and do exciting things we could not do as married women, and really finding an encouraging community of women to embrace this season. This is a time for heart to heart conversation – where women can share what their specific struggles are, how they’ve conquered fears, healed from heartaches, and walk through this season with a joyful perspective – looking for the good in singleness. Ultimately, you will leave really encouraged and inspired to draw close to God, who is the ultimate lover of our souls, knowing that He is our ultimate fulfillment – whether the blessings of marriage and children come into our lives in the future or not.

Maybe you write to blog. Maybe you blog to write. Maybe you use a worn pencil to scribble words in your favorite pink notebook with the yellow flowers on the cover. However you got here, you write. In this workshop, we'll discuss all the ins and outs of writing. How do you uncover your voice? What do you do when the words won't come? When is the best time to write? How do you develop more discipline? We'll pull up a chair and open our hearts as we explore how to use our words well and with intention. All are welcome here. Business bloggers. Writer blogger types. Notebook writer types. Scared to call yourself a writer types. Bring yourself, your laptop or notebook and some vulnerability. We'll chat. We'll write. We'll share.

With the amount of time we spend working on and interacting in our online spaces, it is always a bonus when we can manage to monetize our blogs. Wanting to make money from your blog isn't ((always)) selfish. If the Lord opens this door and chooses to bless you financially through your blog, let's be ready to do that well, time efficiently, and non-selfishly. In this workshop, we will strategize ways to make money that makes the most sense for your online space, all the while, gaining insight from each other on what works, doesn't work, and how we can do things from more of a gospel-focused lens. How can I create a community for my sponsors & promote them genuinely to make it a worthwhile investment? Is my blog too small for sidebar ads? I am not crafty - can I still work with handmade shops? Will making money from ads put me in a box & make me less likely to share the Gospel? As a newbie with questions, an expert with insight, or an old-timer wanting a fresh way of monetizing - come to this workshop with a humble heart willing to ask yourself hard questions and strategize with like-minded women!

This workshop will empower new and seasoned bloggers alike to focus on the importance of blogging with intention. Together we will tackle hard questions like, "Is it okay to be worried about numbers?" "How do I set attainable and meaningful goals?" and "Why is it so hard not to compare my blog growth to the growth of others?" We'll brainstorm together to come up with inspiring and actionable steps to take to get you started (or restarted!) with solid content, community-building practices, and God-honoring goals.

"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17 Can we add whatever you wear to this verse? We really think we can. It's easy to put God in a box but the more we learn about Christ, the more we know that He is in everything -- even fashion. Many women love fashion, love putting outfits together and love being creative with their closet but as follower of Christ, how do you share both Him and style? This workshop will talk about what it means to love fashion and love God -- to encourage women to feel good about what they wear, to be creative with their clothing and to have fun with style. We'll discuss developing a style, being creative in what we wear, encouraging other women to feel good about what they wear, as well as being good stewards of our closets and our wallets. Having good style or loving fashion does not mean we need to go out and "get the latest thing." Let's talk about encouraging style, NOT consumerism. And of course, having fun with those awkward "what I wore" photos!

This workshop on photography will be more like a coffee-date- very laid back! The photographs that are used on a blog (or website) make a huge impact on the atheistic of a blog. Photos can make readers want to pull up a chair and stay a while, or make them click away if they are uninterested. Photos don't have to be perfect, and you can still share your real life in a real way through beautiful photos. We will be sharing different ideas on how to use photography to improve your blog, simple and easy editing techniques, as well as Q&A time. The workshop will be aimed towards both amateurs and non-amateurs. We will be going over different tips such as how to get the best lighting for your photos, etc.

Feminine Studies | Women of Influence

Hey ladies, Jessi here.
Can I tell y'all a quick story?
A few weeks after the 2012 Influence Conference, I got this stirring in my heart to study. This is kind of rare for me since I'm a write-before-I-think kinda gal, but for the first time ever a subject sat in front of me that deserved a lot of attention.

Let me back up a little. I need to tell you - I've never put a lot of thought into what it means to be a woman or to be truly feminine. As I grew up, I always saw a goal in front of me to aim for next - marriage, motherhood, leading other women - but I never stopped to consider the purpose the Lord had for me as I raced towards those positions. I didn't see being a woman as a blessing or a curse, but it did seem that the course towards true femininity was always changing in front of me, like a position I would never reach.

And in these last few months, it began to dawn on me that I have no idea what God's Word says about being truly feminine. I've hung on to singular verses, I've watched on the sidelines of debates regarding biblical femininity - but I haven't just looked full on at the Lord and asked Him to give me wisdom about what it means to be a woman, on purpose for Him.

I got this strong desire to study what it meant to be woman of influence and I started really thinking I'd love to hear Hayley's thoughts. Moreover, I really wanted to ask her if we could study it together and that's when I got excited enough to text her my thoughts.

As I read through the recaps from the conference and listened to the feedback and the conclusions drawn, I started to hear a common theme. Women were hesitant to have too much influence, or to have the wrong balance of influence, or to have influence at all.

I grew up in a home where it was assumed we'd have had a woman president by now. Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, was my hero. There was nothing I thought was too big or too important to be off-limits to me. Being a woman was never something I saw or experienced as a liability or a hindrance in any way.

As a rule, I'm the furthest thing from controversial. I don't like to ruffle feathers. So, I've stayed far away from the online debates about gender roles and femininity. But, being while being a woman doesn't feel like a liability to me...being small and safe and unsure does.

I am confident that there can be grace and charity in figuring out what it means to be a whole, alive, free gospel-centered woman.

Before Jessi even texted her inkling to study femininity, it had already been on my mind. At the beginning of this year, I had purposed to study what it means to be a woman in general and also a woman who has a strategic and intentional way of living. I want to know the fullness of what God promises us as women, the way He made us, and the voice He's given us.

We live in an age unlike any other, and conversely we have a God that is not bound by time and certainly not changed by it. I want to learn from ancient texts about ancient women who God purposed and created. I want to live in the fullness of womanhood as God sees fit.
We're excited to share we'll BOTH be speaking on this at the conference this year - from a life and strategy perspective. This is absolutely a conversation we want to start and continue within the network. If last year, our theme was "you have influence", this year we want to begin unpacking what God's Word tells us about being women of influence.

Stay tuned!

A Look Back: Testimonials From Last Year's Conference.

Thanks to a few 2012 conference attendees, you can catch a glimpse of what to expect at Influence 2013. Enjoy their memories... We can't wait to make many more with you in September!
I didn't have a blog, didn't follow many blogs, or know anyone coming to Influence 2012.  I had connected with many women online before the conference, which really helped since I was new to this blogging world.  Ladies were easily welcoming and helpful. My biggest surprise was seeing my friend at the conference, after she paid my way to come. Someone had paid her way to come. I'm thankful for last year's Influence Conference. It brought me many new connections!

Margaret.
Last year’s conference was an amazing opportunity to connect in person with so many women who I have connected with online. I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to bond with these women on an even deeper level. This online community is just as important as real life community to me, because it is real life! This community has given me opportunities to learn from women who have walked through the same things and chances to get excited over shared visions. The Influence Conference is like coming home.
The Influence Conference came into my life by chance, but melted into  my heart by choice. I went alone, excited. Passionate. Ready to take on my blog with force.  Only, a few moments into the game and I melted. Paralyzed by what I wasn't. Confused by who I was. Afraid to speak because I couldn't grasp the words to define my identity. I spent the weekend wandering in sea of networking savvy, on mute. I met the loveliest women, learned the most brilliant ideas, and left depleted; knowing that finding my purpose and my passion for writing, for creating, for using my Influence would be a journey rather than a sprint. I embraced the tension. And I'm moving forward. Throw me into a sea of gray, because I need to learn to swim there, or I'll sink.  Year one taught me that authenticity is saying that I don't have a tagline or elevator speech on the ready. Prepare your heart to embrace the tension and GO. Be ready. Be still. Be you. Be loved.

I had never been to a Christian women's conference and honestly, I was a little scared and intimidated. I was still pretty new to blogging and my faith. I was nervous about not fitting in with all the "mommy bloggers" and uber Christians. But what happened was that God showed up. Women I had never met welcomed me into their lives over ridiculous amounts of coffee and on morning runs. He showed up and challenged me to examine my heart and mend some failing relationships back home. I was amazed by the sheer generosity and love of so many women online and in real life. To say that I was changed is an understatement.

It took all of five minutes into the first speaker's session for tears to start rolling down my face, and that's pretty much how the rest of the 2012 Influence Conference went for me. I showed up feeling dry and questioning if God could even use me anymore; I left refreshed and full of hope that just maybe God could do something with what He's put inside of me. My fellow attendees and I went from being "online friends" to friends who were crying on each other's shoulders, dreaming together, and spurring one another on towards Jesus.

I didn't know what to expect from Influence. I just knew I wanted to meet other women who loved and valued social media and blogging as much as I did. I knew I would learn about branding, monetizing, and using your platform to further the Kingdom. I did learn about those things. But what I brought home was a circle of friends who I connect with at least on a weekly basis. They know my goals for blogging, writing, and speaking, and we meet monthly to discuss all things blog and store-related in our Mastermind Group that was created on the Influence Network. But they also know what's heavy on my heart, what I need prayer for, and what truth I need to hear that day.
Looking back, I can't believe I ended up going to last year's conference.  I didn't know anyone else attending, and I agreed to room with women that I met briefly on Twitter only a few months before the conference.  I am normally a reserved and shy person, so this was completely out of my comfort zone.  I only blogged once in awhile for a hobby at the time, so I thought I had no business thinking I could fit in.  I am beyond grateful that I made the crazy and brave choice to attend. What surprised me most was how I felt a great sense of belonging with everyone, even though I didn't know a soul there.  We were a large group of women with so many different backgrounds, coming together with one similar passion - the passion for wanting to acknowledge, use, and live out the influence that we have - whether it was at home, at work, or online.  It was a refreshing and encouraging time with no competition or "team A" and "team B."

Amber.
I had a unique experience at last year's Influence Conference because I brought my husband and 4 month old baby with me.  I was nervous that it would be really hard for me to make friends since I wasn't rooming with anyone, and it was a little harder for sure.  But it was also the best part.  I met girls from all over, some who I recognized, most that I did not, and we became friends.  We had a common thread and a common goal, and it was so lovely!  I was completely surprised by the love and acceptance I received entering a room where I knew not one soul. It warmed my soul then and again now.  That is what is so special about this online community... the real life friendships and prayers and encouragement I find there.

I was completely surprised with how much I fell in love with the ladies and enjoyed the conference last year. Not only were the hosts devoted to bringing us the best speakers on strategy, but they also brought amazing speakers on life and faith. I made lasting friendships, was able to sit and love on my sisters in Christ, as well as learn how to grow my online presence and use my influence. If anyone is questioning whether or not to attend this year's conference, I say GO! You really have no idea how life-changing it will be!

Q&A with Influence Speaker Lara Casey

We are thrilled to welcome Lara Casey to our lineup of incredible speakers.

She graciously agreed to answer five of my questions.
(And her answers make me even more eager for September...)

Can you share a little about your various online endeavors?

I wear a lot of hats, but they all directly connect to my core mission, which is to help creative entrepreneurs cultivate rich lives focused on what matters. Here are some fun links to my internet "homes" : )

How did you begin?

In one sentence, I began by taking action on what felt like a really a "crazy idea" and started the magazine on my tiny 13" PC with zero experience. It was a true leap of faith. In about 200 sentences, here is my whole story!

People must come to you for advice all the time. What is the one question you wish people would ask?

Oh wow. Honestly, I wish people would ask me, "How do I glorify God in all I do?" I certainly don't have all the answers for them, but I am passionate about sharing my testimony and all that God has brought me through. When someone has a heart to ask that question in the first place, I know they are on the right path. Nothing fires me up more!

What is a fundamental truth you wish all gospel-centered women would start fully embracing in their daily lives?

God desires for us to take the narrow path. And that means hard decisions and living a life that doesn't match the way the rest of the world lives. It means doing the extraordinary. Being a disciple of Jesus means moment by moment choosing Him over the world and our egos and what everyone else things we "should" do. Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. - Matt 7:13

I love the Jim Rohn quote you referenced on your blog, "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." Why is that quote so significant for you?

You asked the magic question! I've learned the hard way, as most of us do, that not being a part of a community of believers is a quick way to run yourself down the wrong path. God desires for us to be a part of the "body" which is the church. It's not about walking into a building once a week, it's about a daily lifestyle, surrounded by people who have the same core goal - to glorify God and build His kingdom. I always think of the Fellowship of the Believers in Acts 2:42-47:

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Surrounding yourself with people who will help you stay focused on the narrow path is vital. Living by that has changed my entire life.

How do I connect before the conference?

There are a TON of ways to connect to other women before the conference. One of the easiest ways is to become a member of the influence network ! There is an entire Conference category where you can find a roommate, make travel plans, and plan for the weekend! You can also connect to women using the hashtag #influencenet on Twitter and Instagram. Women are also connecting with each other and finding roommates and making plans through our Facebook Page.

What are the two session tracks?

LIFE: Each of our lives are uniquely shaped by God Himself. By telling our stories of grace, forgiveness, trials, loss, and triumph- we are telling of the Good News. Each speaker has a story to tell, full to the brim with the Goodness of God.
STRATEGY: If you are wanting to take your storytelling to a new place this track will help. Your influence in social media can bless you and your ministries relationally and even financially. These sessions will give you practical tips to leverage your business or blog for God’s glory and your good.

How does the two session track thing work?

We really believe the idea that God has given each of us multiple spheres of influence and we hope to touch on these areas through offering both Life and Strategy Sessions. We will have one main session in each track that every conference attendee gets to hear as an entire conference. The rest of the sessions will have both tracks offered simultaneously. There is no need to stick to one track or sign up for a certain session in advance... you are free to attend any session you wish!

Who is speaking at the conference? Who else is involved?

We are so unbelievably excited about the speakers for our 2013 conference. You can find a whole speaker list HERE and get to know them a little better. We also have an incredible group of accessible experts and community leaders who are there to love on you and guide you through the weekend.

We’d like to introduce you to some awesome ladies that will be looking after you during the conference. Our community leaders are meant to be available at all times and be a source of encouragement and guidance for our attendees. These women of influence are excited to help lead and create community within our new tribe throughout the conference weekend. This year, all our community leaders will be teaching a workshop- but more on that later! Each of these women is sweet and engaging and we would LOVE for you to head on over and get to know them better before September if you haven’t already!
Influence Community Leaders

We want to make it clear that the Influence Conference,  and the Influence Network as a whole, is just as much yours as it is ours. We want you to listen to the Holy Spirit and ask, "Do I really believe I have been given influence to make much of Jesus? Do I see the influence I've been given here, today - right where I am? If I do believe that, then how am I responding? Am I being convicted and humbled and given hope by the Good News?" That's why we're having this conference. So that we can ask and answer those questions together.  And we can start right now on the network & keep going right till September.

We'd love for YOU to join us.
